This is a full-time opportunity on a complex project from start to completion, working with a well-established team.
Concrete design & build for all permanent RC structures such as foundations and walls.
Structural Engineering steelwork design and installation for all buildings
Design, Supply and Erection of Cladding, roller doors and personnel doors.
Drainage & Underground Services
Permanent and temporary CFA and sheet piling
Earthworks including excavations for tanks, drainage and underground services, roads and carparks, ramps and retaining walls and RC structures.
About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Site Engineer for a major design and build project in Cork. The project involves extensive earthworks, complex reinforced concrete (RC) structures, and a substantial steel portal frame building with associated cladding. This is a unique opportunity for a talented engineer to drive the technical success of a project with demanding logistical and engineering challenges. Key Project Details:
Earthworks: Approx. 30,000 cubic meters of detailed excavation works and roads.
Concrete Works: Approx. 10,000 cubic meters of in-situ RC, including foundations, retaining walls, and reinforced concrete frames.
Steel Structures: Large-scale steel portal frame construction, including intricate cladding work, roller doors etc.
Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Management: assist with project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet milestones and deadlines.
Technical Oversight: Provide oversight of all engineering activities, ensuring high standards in adherence to design & specification especially for earthworks, RC structures, and eventual steel frame erection.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to optimise workflows and ensure seamless integration across all stages of construction.
Quality Control & Assurance: Ensure quality control procedures are implemented across all areas, adhering to specifications, industry standards and regulations.
Site Supervision & Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, verify measurements, and ensure adherence to programme.
Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental protocols, taking a proactive approach to risk management.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, preparing progress reports, technical assessments, and project forecasts as required.
About You
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in civil engineering, with a proven track record in large-scale infrastructure or design-build projects. Specific experience in earthworks, reinforced concrete, and steel frame construction is essential.
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of structural engineering, geotechnical considerations, and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
Project Management: Skilled in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), with experience managing project programmes, timelines, and resources.
Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in managing and mentoring junior engineers, as well as coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly address technical challenges with practical solutions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
