The Company
  • This company operates for both public and private clients as Main Contractor in the civil engineering and building sectors. The work comprises roadworks/ active travel/ urban spaces, airport infrastructure, port infrastructure, power generation/ distribution, renewables, fuel facilities, educational facilities, various utilities, building works, prisons and rail. They cover projects across Leinster & Dublin.
  
The Role
This company requires a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. You must have;
  • Previous experience in public roadworks/ other heavy civil engineering experience will be an advantage. 
  • Knowledge of various standard contract forms preferable – eg. NEC, Public Works, FIDIC – as well as different methods of measurement – eg. TII, CESMM, ARM.
  • Must be committed to working in detail, ensuring good technical understanding of construction work/ methodologies is obtained as well as preparation of commercially sound and researched claims, valuations, final accounts, quotations and other commercial submissions.
  • Candidate needs to have a track record of collaboration with contractors’ site personnel (site managers, engineers/ foremen) and ensuring good quality contemporaneous record-keeping and ensuring they have sound knowledge of construction details and methodologies – i.e. work is not purely desktop-based.
  • Work will also involve subcontract/ large supplier procurement, negotiation, measurement and settlement of accounts.
  • Depending on workload, some work in assisting estimating/ tendering teams in the preparation of commercial and technical aspects of tender submissions may be required.
  
The Requirements
  • Professional, degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor.  Position may also suit degree-qualified civil engineer/ construction manager who is interested in focussing more on the commercial side of civil engineering construction.
  • Typically, 3-7 years’ post-graduation experience.
